Who is Aimee Powers?
Dr. Aimee Powers began Elder Advocates of CT out of a deep compassion for the elderly population and the challenges they face on a regular basis with failing health and the complexities of the current healthcare system.
She brings 30 years of clinical work as a physical therapist in a variety of settings including long-term care, homecare, cardiac rehab, outpatient treatment, assisted living, demntia patients, and acute care. Her most recent positions include serving as the rehab director at a long-term care facility and 10+ years in home care. In addition to treating her patients clinically, Aimee works to advocate for the elderly and their family members throughout the healthcare spectrum.
She holds a bachelor's degree from Boston University and a doctor of physical therapy degree from St. Scholastica University.
Outside of Elder Advocates of Connecticut, Aimee seeks to improve the lives of others through a variety of volunteer positions, including establishing and leading the Dominican Republic Mission Team since 1990. Through this non-profit organization, she has helped facilitate thousands of volunteers to serve in the bateyes and barrios of La Romana, Dominican Republic.
